Labor Day seems like the perfect time to think about where we’re going, not just where we’ve been.

We spend so much of our lives working toward something. A career. A family. A dream. A new chapter. We work hard, overcome challenges, celebrate milestones and sometimes wonder when we’ll finally arrive at that place where everything feels just right.

But maybe home isn’t a place we eventually reach.

Maybe home is a feeling.

It’s that feeling of belonging. Of being comfortable in your own skin. Of knowing you are enough exactly as you are and that you don’t have to constantly prove your worth.

And maybe some of the most important work we do isn’t the work that comes with a paycheck or a title.

It’s the work of raising a family. Showing up for a friend. Caring for someone who needs us. Starting over. Learning something new. Getting back up after disappointment. Encouraging someone else when we could use encouragement ourselves.

Much of that work is invisible. And yet, it matters.

So this Labor Day, I hope we take a moment to recognize all the work we’ve done, and all the work we are still doing.

Don’t wait for the big accomplishment to celebrate yourself.

Celebrate the small wins.

The phone call you finally made.
The difficult conversation you handled.
The goal you didn’t give up on.
The person you helped.
The challenge you made it through.
The day you simply kept going.

Those aren’t small things. They are the building blocks of a life.

And perhaps the greatest lesson is this: We don’t have to wait for some future version of ourselves to feel at home.

We can choose to feel at home right here, right now.

This Labor Day, I’m grateful for the work behind me, excited about the possibilities ahead of me, and determined to keep working hard, having fun and being fully myself along the way.

Because maybe coming home isn’t about returning to where we’ve been.

Maybe it’s about becoming who we’re meant to be.

So, here’s my Monday Lesson for you:
