My amazing granddaughter Hailey is lacing up her running shoes once again, this time for the Chicago Marathon on October 12, 2025—and she’s doing it with heart, purpose, and a whole lot of determination!
Hailey is raising money to support research and advocacy for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the insulin-producing cells, making something as simple as eating a constant balancing act.
This mission is personal. Hailey’s best friend, Morgan Hill, was diagnosed with T1D when they were just nine years old. From childhood sleepovers to traveling through Portugal and France this summer, Hailey has seen firsthand what it takes for Morgan to manage this 24/7 condition, and she’s inspired by her resilience every step of the way.

A few years ago, Hailey ran the NYC Marathon for this same cause, and now she’s going the distance again, 26.2 miles, to help turn hope into progress. Her fundraising goal this time around is $2,500, and she just opened her page… and she’s already at $2,800! |
