Saturday couldn’t have been more perfect in Austin—blue skies, sunshine, and a dreamy 80 degrees set the stage for a beautiful celebration! My grandson Trey is tying the knot in April with the lovely Liz Wilkins, and let me tell you—she is his perfect match in every way!

I had the joy of co-hosting a wedding shower alongside two of my daughter’s lifelong friends, making it a truly special gathering for family and the bride’s closest friends. From the moment we finished assembling our charcuterie cups (just in time before the guests arrived!) to the last bite of cake, it was a day to remember. Speaking of cake—Michelle’s Patisserie outdid herself, creating a masterpiece inspired by their wedding invitation. Not only was it stunning, but every bite was pure delight!

Melissa worked her floral magic, filling the space with gorgeous arrangements, and we added a touch of whimsy with big balloons in Liz’s signature light blue. The whole setup was just so much fun!

But what’s a shower without a little friendly competition? We played a fun Trivia Game where everyone had to answer questions about the bride and groom—some answers were easy, some not so much! The winner walked away with a surprise prize. Then, to keep things lively, we handed out miniature diamond rings to each guest and set the challenge: if you heard someone say “wedding” or “bride,” you could take their ring. The guest with the most rings at the end won a prize. And guess who dominated the contest? Beckett! She was on a mission, collecting nine rings and securing her well-earned victory—this girl loves a good game!

A little about the happy couple—Liz graduated from Baylor Law last spring, passed the bar, and now works in oil and gas law in downtown Austin. Trey, my grandson, works in AI at Charles Schwab. They met at Texas A&M and are two peas in a pod—smart, driven, and always on the same wavelength! Since Liz isn’t one for the spotlight, we kept things laid-back and casual, just the way she likes it.

Now the countdown is officially on—only 48 days until the big day!  We can’t wait!
