Twin Liquors’ Allandale Village: Grand Opening!

The Allandale Village location of Twin Liquors, a Texas-based liquor store, is gearing up for an exciting grand opening on August 24th at 10 a.m. The festivities will mark the launch of their annual Dollar Sale event, along with a range of attractions including cocktails, complimentary breakfast tacos, giveaways, and more (while supplies last). The Dollar Sale will run until August 26th, and online orders will be temporarily on pause.

The new store, as described in a press release, will showcase an expanded assortment of wines, spirits, pre-mixed cocktails, barware, stemware, and more. Central to the store’s layout will be a wine and spirits bar, accompanied by an educational hub hosting specially curated events and weekly tastings.

Rooted in Austin’s downtown since 1937, Twin Liquors, a family-owned enterprise, has transitioned from a modest single store to a thriving local success story. Its exceptional team, unmatched customer service, strategically placed outlets, diverse global selection of fine wines and premium spirits, and significant community engagement have garnered it a distinctive and esteemed reputation across the United States.

The origins of Twin Liquors trace back to the late 1800s when it started as part of a mercantile establishment situated at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Pecan Street (now Sixth Street). Post the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, the Jabour family embraced the liquor trade, operating “Jabour’s Package Store,” which combined a liquor outlet, a drugstore, and a soda fountain under one roof. In the competitive aftermath of Prohibition, this format was common, with around 26 liquor stores within a two-mile radius. The Jabour family’s hard work led to the expansion of their business to three liquor stores and a beer-only tavern by the mid-1940s. In 1981, this generation of the family decided to retire after four decades in the liquor industry.

A new era for Twin Liquors began in February 1982 when a fresh generation of Jabours launched a small 700-square-foot liquor store at the crossroads of 7th Street and Red River in downtown Austin. This store was christened “Twin Liquors” in honor of Theodore Jabour, one of the original twins associated with Jabour’s Package Store.

David and Margaret Jabour, the present proprietors, take immense pride in their customer service and anticipate continued growth while staying committed to community service. Hailing from a lineage deeply intertwined with Austin since the late 1800s, the Jabours are third-generation Austinites, now nurturing the fourth generation. They firmly believe that supporting communities is as vital as meeting customer needs. Twin Liquors contributes to numerous charitable events each year, driven by their passion for the wine and spirits industry.  Another epic, entrepreneurial success story from Austin!
