So glad that Handle’s Homemade Ice Cream store is open in the Plaza Volente shopping center at 11521 North Farm to Market Road 620, right next to Torchy’s Tacos! They offer extensive choices of ice cream, sorbet, sundaes and shakes. They even offer take out!

I loved reading the story of how in the summer of 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio, Alice Handel, using fresh fruit from her garden, created the sweetest recipes of ice cream! Her finished product became the neighborhood favorite and Handel’s quality, homemade ice cream was born!

The legacy continues through the Franchise’s across the country. They uphold Alice’s traditions and make each batch fresh daily, sharing her homemade ice cream to communities, one scoop at a time!

As a side bar they were voted #1 Ice Cream on the plant by National Geographic’s “10 best of everything!”

This is the first franchise to open in NW Austin and you must put it on your to-do list. They have picnic tables, a Playscape for kids and space to run around while enjoying their sweet treat. I can’t decide if I’m going to try their Butter Pecan or Black Raspberry…so many choices they all look scrumptious!
