Dana and Camille Easton acquired Ao5 from its founder, Joe Siegel, in June 2019. They returned to Austin in late 2018 after a hiatus from Austin for 14 years. They heard Joe was interested in returning to CA to be closer to family, so took a closer look at the gallery. Tribeza Magazine featured an article about the Ao5 Gallery move to the Arboretum.
Joe started the gallery in 1998 in the former Austin’s Children’s Museum building on West 5th street in old west Austin. He relocated the gallery to South Lamar in 2014 and rebranded from “Art on 5th Street” to “Ao5 Gallery.” The gallery has expanded significantly and is becoming the largest contemporary art gallery in Austin.
Ao5 Gallery is known for having one of the largest permanent collections of “The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss.” I love the fun and whimsical body of work, from the late Theodor Geisel.

Todd Gresley, Gallery Director, has taken the Gallery into its third decade and is responsible for bringing innovative and exciting shows that cannot be seen anywhere else in Austin!
The gallery has been awarded “Best Gallery in Austin” multiple times by the Austin Chronicle, as well as “Best Gallery in Texas” by American Art awards.
| We are so fortunate to be able to view a vast array of art, hundreds of vintage movie and concert posters, pop art, and the icing on the cake is their expert custom framing shop which offers museum quality framing as well as restoration services.
They constantly change their display of featured artists to attract new visitors and keep the gallery fresh! Make it a point to stop in and feel their walls that inspire! It’s definitely worth the trip…. NW Austin is so full of surprises.
