I have been viewing the images out of the Turkey and Syria border this week and my heart goes out to all these people. I can’t imagine having entire families wiped out. More than 20,000 people have died and thousands more have been injured. How can anyone accept this devastation and move forward?
It’s a lot to comprehend, but through the annihilation, there was a light that shined as well. That light came from the heroic acts of those working to save the lives of family members and total strangers. The juxtaposition of the situation; seeing the worst of nature on display and the best of humanity, was riveting and profound. We must stop, look, listen, and acknowledge the two opposing forces; even with all that is drawing our attention away in our busy, fast pace world.

In moments like these, we must focus one’s mind and heart on the best of humanity. While so much of the news emphasis the worst of us, we need to turn our attention to the best of us.
