This Memorial Day 2022 marks 32 months since my Geno left us. If you knew Gene, your world was expanded and brightened with his infectious smile, jocular humor, and revered advice and mentorship.
Gene served in the US Navy so I made sure to place a flag by his headstone. Upon my arrival it was wonderful see pickups with many volunteers placing a flag by each gravestone in the cemetery. Its actions like these that make us see and feel the gratitude of Americans for those who go and fight for our freedom. It’s the Veterans courage and dedication that inspires us to always live life to the fullest.
The greatest way to appreciate our fallen soldiers is to show a life of gratitude and pay it forward. We are truly blessed to live in a country where we are free to live and anything is possible. This would not be the case without the bravery of our veterans. Today, let’s time to remember and honor these heroes.
“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” … Unknown
