Austin enjoys an $8 billion tourism industry and a growing share is coming from our recent positioning as a top bachelorette party destination! According to Texas Monthly Austin consistently ranks among the top bachelorette spots in the nation. Why? According to Ivy Jacobson, senior digital editor of The Knot, a popular wedding website, “People love the food, music and local flavor. It’s a really fun destination to go for a week-end and immerse yourself in.”
Wedding Wire calls Austin “the city that offers amazing cocktails, adorable murals and the artsy vibe the modern bride-to-be (and six to twelve best friends) is looking for guaranteeing a good time.”
Where do these young affluent brides and bridesmaids parachute in from? The come from all over the country and cities in Texas. There are many businesses springing up to serve these party goers. This is just one more way our landscape of Austin is changing. It all boils down to tourists trying to access the “authentic” Austin.
Posting on Instagram and other social media is a must as revelers try on our local culture for size and try to improve on our theme “Keep Austin weird.” Maybe they are taking it to a new high. Let’s hope they don’t threaten our real identity. Meanwhile the booze is flowing, the music is thumping and it’s time to pedal ladies!
