I love my referral this week on a place to meet friends and family and enjoy good food in a charming neighborhood. You can even meet for afternoon tea with all the trimmings! It’s just down the street from my son’s new office building in the family friendly Crestview/Brentwood neighborhood. If you are looking for casual and comfortable than you’ll love this spot..its a gathering place for locals..just the kind of place you’ll know will be good and you’ll be returning time and again!

The Brentwood Social House is an Austin neighborhood café that serves teas/coffee, beer and wine and locally made European inspired baked goods and savory pies along with salads & sandwiches. It’s a comfy and inviting get-together space. They’ve got spaces that are quiet if you want to meet up for some studying or a meeting. They have a separate room for families that is child friendly and their backyard is dog friendly along with a playscape.
For something a little different, Brentwood also has Afternoon Tea. They serve a 3-tiered stand of crafted sweet & savory foods as in the norm for an English Afternoon High Tea. Theirs is a little more casual and cozy with mismatched vintage china and it’s set in an old world coffee house with a menu that includes tea sandwiches, scones, sweet treats and a pot of tea for each person.
A sampling of their menu…From the Savory menu there’s The Sausage Roll – spicy Italian chicken sausage wrapped in Belgian puff pastry…and…The Cheese Pasty with Antonelli’s Cheddar Cheese wrapped in Belgian puff pastry. On the Salads/Sandwiches menu there’s Market Vegetable Lasagna – roasted seasonal vegetables layered with tomato and béchamel sauces, topped with Antonelli’s cheddar cheese served with a side salad….and The Coronation Chicken Salad – creamy curried chicken topped with almonds, raisins and spiced carrot relish.
