It was amazing how many residents braved the blustery weather to join us at the Canyon Creek HOA Multi-Cultural Festival in Trail Head Park in Canyon Creek Subdivision on December 8, 2018. It was colder than we were hoping for but the holiday music, the wonderful performances, the food and hot beverages created a heart-warming, unforgettable sense of close knit community.
Mr. and Mrs. Santa were a hit as well as the 2 horse drawn carriages that created a true holiday ambiance. Snowflakes in the air would be the only thing that could have made it better. The DJ added so much to the event with his holiday music ringing through the air.
A special thank you to the Westwood High School Sax Ensemble, whose music warmed our hearts and our Chinese Neighbors created a sweet and sophisticated celebration of their rich cultural heritage. Thank you, Cheng Wooster for orchestrating the performances.
Jessica Cunningham displayed and sold her beautiful handmade leather jewelry, perfect for Christmas gifts.
A huge shout to the local girl scouts and boy scouts along with the Westwood AFJROTC who braved the frigid temperatures and sold food and beverages. Girl Scout Troop 2185 used their booth to work on earning their Entrepreneurship badge. They learned what they could control (production selections and effect of varying price points) and what they couldn’t (the weather).
Subba Venkiteswaran introduced us to the Carrom Board along with some other games.
The Winter Multi-Cultural Festival Committee was made up of four residents: Francine Galko, Subba Venkiteswaran, Cheng Wooster and Valeria Bowers. Thank you ladies!
