I’m so glad that Carol Williams is hosting the December Challenge to share a quote that inspires us. After an informative luncheon this past Thursday put on by the Austin Chamber for the Austin businesses and policy leaders I thought of a Zig Ziglar quote that resonates with me. “You can make positive deposits in your own economy every day by reading and listening to powerful, positive life-changing content and by associating with and encouraging hope-building people.” What a great few hours of learning and grasping the concept of powering forward in an Age of Disruption.
Continuing education and forums like this inspire me. Its so important to stay on top of where we are headed because the only constant in our world is change. Austin is a hub for technology and understanding that everything is being digitized and embracing these concepts on where we are headed is important if we are going to be the leaders in our industries.
Listening to Colonel Patrick Seiber, Communications Director for the Army Futures Command speak on the panel was not only informative but energizing. The army chose Austin to house “one roof” over the their heads because of the spirit of innovation in Austin. The quest to modernize the way the Army does business is the biggest transformation since 1973. Their plan of using artificial intelligence robotics to help protect our most precious products, our solders is revolutionary.
I was blown away with the spirit, enthusiasm and knowledge Ali Occhialini, Vice President Head of Digital Distribution, PIMCO exhibited when talking about her global asset management firm that recently opened an office in Austin. Their presence allows them to be close to the data, artificial intelligence and other advanced tech sectors that have clusters of companies located here.
With Austin netting 82 people a day its important to be familiar with the companies where new residents are employed. Texas is a hot spot in the country and I for one am inspired by everything I learn!
As Sir Frances Bacon stated: “Knowledge itself is power!”
