Buenos Aires Cafe ~ "Foodie" Friday 9/7/18

It looks like we are are going to receive rain all week-end. Don’t let that dampen your spirits, try something new  for your dining pleasure. Head on down to this fun and welcoming restaurant on East 6th Street and learn to eat the Argentine way, you’ll be glad you did!

Chef/owner Reina Morris moved her family from Argentina in 1997, and carried her love for life and hospitality with her.  Wanting to share her love for her culture through food she enrolled in the Texas Culinary Academy. Her mission at Buenos Aires Café is to serve high quality food, give back to her community while respecting the environment.  Argentina is known for beef, but there is also a large seafood culture because of its long coastline. They are committed to serving their customers only the highest quality food and the freshest ingredients available and support local farmers and markets when possible.

 

A sample of their menus….On their Empanadas menu there are 5 types to choose from: Suave which is mild ground beef with green onions, green olives, raisins, traditional spices and fresh herbs…Pollo which is shredded roasted chicken, red bell peppers, fresh herbs and green onions…Atun with Genova tuna, red bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, black & green olives and oregano …Verdura with spinach, ricotta, parmesan and onions and finally Semanal with spicy tomato braised beef, potato and cheese.  They are all served with house made chimichurri (not usually done in Argentina, but satisfies the Austinite and the way we love to dip). On the Small Bites menu there’s Aceitunas – house marinated olives & citrus zest…Provoleta-traditional Argentine charred provolone with fresh herbs…and Bread Service – rustic handmade sourdough bread with Uruguayan extra virgin olive oil or homemade compound butter. On the Entreé menu there’s Milanesa A La Napolitana-2 breaded and fried certified Angus beef cutlets baked with ham, mozzarella, house made marinara served with rosemary & parmesan fries…on the Grill menu you can choose from Bife De Lomo – a 6oz. tenderloin, Costilla – 2 10oz bone-in short ribs and Chuleton – a 12oz. ribeye all served with their chimichurri.  

On the Dessert menu – try the Quatro Leches – the traditional Latin American tres leches sponge cake with their signature fourth distinct Argentine touch…or from the pastry case try Chocotorta – a flourless chocolate torte layered with chocolate and dulce de leche ganache, strawberry mousse and finished with strawberry balsamic reduction.
