Tiny Boxwoods ~ "Foodie" Friday ~ 6/22/18

Last week-end Geno and I dined with some special friends celebrating my good friend’s birthday in this delightful restaurant! It’s named after a little potted plant found throughout their garden. We enjoyed the ambiance, food, service and highly recommend you to check out this amazing place. You’ll love the casual Austin vibe.

TINY BOXWOODS            https://www.tinyboxwoods.com/

A number of years ago, owners Baron Doke, Gregg Thompson and Lance Thompson opened this restaurant in the middle of a nursery.  There were potted Boxwood trees found throughout the garden and so that is what they named their restaurant. They wanted to create a ‘happy place’ for their customers, a place that would become part of their lives.  And, they succeeded. There is a bond between food and environment that is contagious. They offer elegant service in an inviting atmosphere.

Good food is created from good places. Their mission is to make each and every experience a memorable one.  Breakfast and lunch is served Tuesday – Friday and is light and casual with counter service. Feel like a sandwich, salad or a cookie? – Just walk right in.

On the breakfast menu, you’ll also find Avocado Toast with citrus, salt, red pepper, marinated tomatoes, local honey, a fried egg and bacon on housemade artisan bread….or you could try Mother’s Breakfast with mother’s sausage or bacon, scrambled eggs, jalapeño cheese grits and a warm biscuit with the jam of the day.  If you’re there for dinner, start out with a French Picnic – housemade artisan bread, rosemary ham, whipped goat cheese, kalamatas and basil pesto (we tried this and it was excellent)…or try the Crab & Tomato Salad – jumbo lump crab, fresh avocado, arugula, heirloom tomatoes and lemon vinaigrette. For an entree try The Watercolor – shrimp and crab poached in a spicy herb butter over coconut rice…Harvest Salmon – wood fired salmon, ancient grains risotto, roasted vegetables with fresh herbs and cashew cream…or the Chicken Provencal – wood fired half roasted chicken, served with spring greens tossed in a champagne vinaigrette and a toasted goat cheese baguette. And, for dessert, how about a cappucino and a sweet treat? Yummmm…was soooo good!
