These owners are delightful and warmly embrace their patrons and have poured their heart in soul in giving us a sliver of Italy right here in Austin!

Intero offers a modern Italian inspired menu that highlights the changing seasons in Central Texas. They totally embrace the importance of sustainability by using locally farmed produce and locally raised whole animals. Austin born and raised husband and wife duo, Ian Thurwachler and Krystal Carig, plus third wheel McVay Bennett have joined forces and with 40 years of combined experience have a winner on their hands!
Italian food is deep-rooted in necessity and thanks toward every ingredient which drives the idea behind their restaurant. Since their focus is on sustainability, the reclaimed materials are noticeable throughout their interior design creating an inviting dining atmosphere. A dear friend recently dined there and she and her husband can’t wait to go back! The menus change and are updated daily.
For starters, you could try the House-made ricotta with fennel seed cracker and a fennel salsa verde (she loved it!), there’s also a pork confit with parker house roll, gorgonzola and pickled green tomato. For an entree, there’s hand cut pappardelle with pork bolognese, grilled kale and citrus ricotta, or seared gulf shrimp with cauliflower risotto, caper and garden parsley.
Unique to Austin, but motivated by what happens at small cafes throughout Italy, Intero has an artisan chocolate counter in the front space of their restaurant. In that space, there is a variety of truffles, barks and sipping chocolates in both classic and Italian flavors. Some truffle flavors are rosemary & white chocolate, peanut butter honey and Italian creme cake. For dessert, enjoy these chocolates with some of their locally roasted coffee.
