Owners Rachel and Matthew Buchanan are native Texans who have spent time in Perugia, Italy, discovering the tastes and techniques of Italian food. Following that they moved to Hyde Park, NY where Michael pursued a degree at the renowned Culinary Institute of America; and eventually they found themselves in the Texas Hill Country. It was there that their dream of owning a restaurant centered on fresh, local and seasonal food became a reality. The Leaning Pear is now Wimberley’s destination spot for well-crafted, delicious food in a peaceful hill country location.
On their Appetizer menu you’ll find The Crab Cake with chayote slaw in a cilantro-buttermilk dressing and Grilled Sourdough Bruschette. On the Entree menu there’s Meatloaf with scallion mashed potatoes and a blue cheese salsa cruda…Chicken and Grits – a roasted airliner breast with green chili-bacon grits and Grilled Steelhead with butternut squash tots, pear cream with a kale, mushroom and pumpkin seed pistou. The Dessert Menu has Coconut Panna Cotta – cardamom puffed rice with a mango-chile puree and a Mason Jar Cheesecake with balsamic macerated strawberries and a graham cracker crumble.
