The Missing Ring ~ A post Christmas Miracle

The night before Gene’s surgery on his elbow, December 6th he slipped his wedding ring off and gave it to me to keep for him. I was going to put it on my necklace so I could take it off easily after his surgery so he could put it back on. Instead I put it on my index finger because I was busy getting dinner ready to set on the table and putting the last finishing touches on our Christmas tree. As I was finishing eating I glanced down and realized no ring on my finger!

My heart stopped and I began sobbing! We began tearing the house apart even dumping the garbage out on the garage floor and sorting through it twice! No luck..days went by and when our cleaning people came we had them looking..still no luck.

Gene offered the grand-kids $50 if they could find  his ring when we finished Christmas dinner….still couldn’t find it! For some reason we both felt we would find it, it was just a matter of time, it had to be in the house!

Our cleaning people came back and removed the center leaf in our breakfast table I had them put in before Christmas for one of our tables at Christmas dinner. A loud cry went up as one of them spotted Gene’s ring under the base of our table laying on the rug! It’s a “Christmas Miracle” they all exclaimed! I agreed! Our last hope was when we took our tree down we’d find it amongst the tree ornaments!
