Christmas is over and now we are heading into the New Years Eve and New Years Day celebrations! How about a change of pace when it comes to dining options? No need to travel to New Orleans for delicious Cajun food – we have the real deal right here in Austin, Texas. I think I’ve found you a delightful place to try.

The owners of the French Quarter Grille, Davey Gore and Scott Stolle, showcase traditional Cajun dishes that are heavy on seafood with lots of cream, butter and shellfish. The restaurant has an open kitchen so you can see the magic happen and a large New Orleans street scene hanging in the dining room that was commissioned by a local artist. The interior is warm and casual with brightly colored accents with the sounds of jazz playing in the background. And, the staff is very welcoming and friendly and able to answer any questions you might have about the menu.
One thing to know in advance is to plan on leaving room for dessert which is well worth a visit to The French Quarter Grille. Now to the menus….on the appetizer menu you might want to try the Fried Green Tomatoes – thin slices of green tomato lightly coated in a crisp batter and topped with a cool serving of creamy crab rémoulade. Or, you might like to try the Crawfish Beignets served with jalapeno and roaster corn tartar sauce.
For dinner, try the French Quarter Salmon topped with sweet crabmeat and a nutty pesto or the Blackened Rib Eye Pontchartrain that sits under a blanket of plump shrimp and flaky crabmeat in a mushroom cream sauce.
Now, for that dessert, you need to know that the portions are large enough to share. There’s Crème Brulée served 2 ways: orange infused custard with flecks of vanilla bean; as well as a chocolate raspberry custard with a wonderful velvety texture. There’s also Traditional Cheesecake with Strawberries and a Turtle Cheesecake to choose from.
