I’m sure many of us are so full we can’t move but today is another day and there are so many things to do: some will fight the Black Friday crowds, others will get out their Christmas decorations and think about what to do Friday night! This week’s Foodie Friday takes a twist with this revival of an Austin landmark that you must visit! Grab family and friends and check out Celis Brewery and Taproom and hear the story of how this 1960 brewery reclaimed their business!! Love it when good triumphs!

This 1960 craft brewery has reopened in North Austin in a massive warehouse space with a taproom that is anchored by a bar built around a massive original hand-beaten copper kettle. T
The Celis family, founder Pierre and his daughter Christine, late last year were able to bring their original brewing equipment to Austin from Belgium: the historic cast iron open mash tun, 2 copper kettles, an open fermenter, heat exchanger and coolship. This is in a special area of the brewery that is similar to a functional museum. The Celis Brewery is Austin’s original craft beer maker. Pierre started brewing beer in Hoegarrden, Belgium, left for Austin, sold the brewery to Miller Brewing Company, but it is now back in the family and ready to go with Pierre’s original recipes including the original Celis White, the Celis Pale Bock and their first new one: the Celis Citrus Granis IPA. For anyone who is a lover of craft beers, this is very exciting news. The brewery includes a taproom with food and music. 
I was able to tour the brewery with others from our Coldwell Banker NW Office thanks to Jennifer Clarke at Independence Title and we had a wonderful time.
