While in Rome on our recent vacation I made a point to go by the Baroque fountain called Fontana della Barcaccia. It’s located in the Piazza di Spagna at the base of my favorite people watching place; the magnificent Spanish Steps.
I asked our guide years back on one of our trips what was the story behind this fountain? He told us it was inspired by a boat that washed up after the Tiber flooded and many refer to it as “the leaky old boat.” I always make time to walk on the stepping stones to the fountain and fill my water bottle, this time was no different.
