Where was I? George Souto posted a photo on his vacation requesting us to respond to where he’d been. I read his post and was pretty certain he had been in Portugal as we have been there many times. We left on August 22nd on vacation so thought I’d ask the question where was I in this photo?
While we were gone we watched with the world the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey as the storm released a relentless punishing of Houston and the coastal cities a long the Texas and Louisiana coastline.
The destruction is unfathomable but the spirit of Texans showed the world what the US is all about…..giving, helping, trusting, caring and never giving up no matter what is put in our path.
Many from other countries expressed their sympathy and told us our citizens rose to the occasion to help each other out like they have never witnessed. We all shared the grief of those caught up in the devastation and our hearts were full watching the effects of the storm unfold. Our vacation ended up bonding with many warm, new friends from across the world and our country.
Back home now we are overwhelmed with the relief efforts and are joining in volunteering and helping..its going to be a long term effort but we will rebuild and come back better and stronger than before!
I’ll never forget our vacation….and will never take things for granted again.
