We just returned from a wonderful vacation and flew out of Austin Bergstrom Airport. Right across from the gate we were leaving was a fantastic Italian Restaurant! We were on our way to Italy but this place could easily pass for many little quaint restaurants we experience on our adventures. If your planning to fly into or out of Austin soon, you might want to schedule a little extra time at the airport to catch a bite at this new Italian restaurant located near gate 20 in the main terminal.
I VINI
I Vini is a sleek new Italian market located near gates 20-23 in Austin Bergstrom Airport. The market has a curved wine bar, an espresso area and a walk-up takeaway bar for beer and wine. There’s also a 30 foot prepared foods section and a sit down dining option area where you can relax and enjoy a meal. Much of their food prep is done out in the open. They even have a hand-cranked charcuterie slicer where they prepare their fresh salami platters while you watch.
If you’re headed out on a flight, you can grab one of their Bruschetta boxes that are designed for travelers to eat on the plane. A wine list that has been curated by Jeremy Cohen, a past recipient of the Best Wine List in America award, will be available as well. Their menu is based on fresh Italian street food and will feature items for breakfast starting at 4:30 am through around 11pm for a late bite to eat.
Some of what you’ll find on their menu is Antipasti where you can choose from Salumi e Formaggi – cheeses & cured meats, fennel salad, grapes and pane alle olive…or their Bruschetta with olive tapenade, tomato scarpetta, pistachio pecorino and grapes with pane rustico.
Feel like some pasta or pizza? Try some Rigatoni Pomodoro or some Roasted Pork & Fig Pizza with caramelized onion, gorgonzola dolce and arugula. Ciabatta sandwiches are also available like the Turkey Pecorino with smoked turkey, pistachio pecorino, fig conserva and balsamic onions. Want to just chill with some coffee and something sweet? How about the Cornetto with butter, chocolate & almond or a lemon tart with a latte or cappuccino? Whatever you decide, this is a wonderful addition to the ever expanding dining area at the airport.
