I’ve written about this restaurant before, but with the opening of their Anderson Lane location in Northwest Austin, it’s definitely worthy of another post. Its a perfect spot to try this Labor Day week-end! Geno and I recently made reservations and loved the lively atmosphere, the service was impeccable and the food delicious! I definitely can vouch for the Texas Quail and Layered Chunky Queso….just saying……….

Jack Allen’s has been bringing southern inspired dishes that are infused with the spices of southwestern cuisine to the Austin area since 2009. Here’s a sampling of what you’ll find on the menu…on the Appetizer menu there’s Bacon Wrapped Texas Quail with jalapeño jam, peach jam and microgreen fig salad…or you might like Carl Miller’s Layered Chunky Queso with green chili pork, queso and guacamole (purchase of the queso helps support the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation).
On the Grillin’s menu you can choose the Grilled Ruby Trout with sundried tomato walnut pesto, apple-pecan relish, veggie studded rice and wilted spinach…5 Cheese Macaroni and Chicken with twisted elbow macaroni and achiote chicken or a Grilled New York Strip with TX whiskey demi-glace and pimento cheese potato gratin. Feel like just having a burger? Try the Fat Jack Burger with hickory sauce, cheddar cheese, bacon, onion, dill pickles and jalapeño mayonnaise.
