June’s All Day ~ "Foodie" Friday 8/18/17

Feel like traveling to Europe but can’t get away? How about putting a little romance in this weekends dining adventures! Make time to try out a chic wine bar of Paris and a tapas bar of Spain combined into an all-day café run by a master sommelier, that has been nominated by Bon Appetit as one the best new restaurants for 2017?  We have it right here in Austin and it’s located downtown on South Congress. Restaurateurs Larry McGuire and Tom Moorman have created June’s All Day – a neighborhood café and bar located on a sun-filled corner of South Congress. There’s a small patio that is perfect for people watching and hanging with your four legged friend.  Inside you will find a classic styling with a vintage jukebox, comfy banquette seating and a long marble bar that is complete with a TV in the corner.  

June’s is open breakfast through dinner, 7 days a week.  It’s got a modern Paris café look due to the circular copper topped tables, checker patterned floor, marble bar and stylishly designed sconces.  There are incredible baked goods from their pastry chef, Lindsay O’Rourke, and breakfast chalupas in the morning, shaved ham and butter sandwiches for lunch and chicken paillard for dinner.

Here are other samples from their menus:  On the breakfast menu: the Appetizing Board with pastrami smoked salmon, onion & poppy bialy, red onion, capers, watercress and wasabi tobiko cream cheese…there’s a Croque Madame with jambon paris, gruyere, fried egg and mixed greens or the Breakfast Chalupa with scrambled egg whites, black beans, salsa picante, avocado and ricotta salata.  The Small Plates menu has Tomato & Canteloupe with burrata, horseradish, golden roe and basil…the Snapper Carpaccio with fermented citrus, avocado and tangerine.  The Entrée menu has Grilled Chicken Paillard with harissa, wild arugula, fennel and parmesan cheese…Roasted Catch of the Day with braised leeks, tarragon vinaigrette and steamed rice or the Grilled Pork Chop with okra, cherry tomato, Serrano chili in a sweet corn vinaigrette.  

For something sweet, the Bakeshop menu has a Marshmallow Fluff Brownie…Raspberry & Streusel Coffee Cake and Cherry, Chocolate & Cashew Biscotti.  If you’d like some wine with your meal, Master sommelier June Rodil will help you select the perfect one.
