I’ve got a great new restaurant that’s opened in Rock Rose in the Domain in Northwest Austin for you to try this week-end. I can personally vouch for their service and quality of food! While celebrating my birthday month in July, I was treated by friends for a wonderful celebration! Whether a special occasion or just meeting friends and family for some excellent food make sure to include Toulouse Cafe on your must to do list!

Toulouse Café and Bar will make you think of a Parisian Café where you might expect to bump into friends; or start having conversations with the table next to yours. Like all fine bistros, the menu is imaginative and seasonal and gives it diners exactly what they want: cozy tables that open to the street and delicious French food. There are mouth watering specials, made from scratch desserts and a wide-ranging wine list.
Executive chef, Yoann Lardeux has more than 20 years of experience and it shows. He is a French born and trained chef who grew up around the food and service industry. You will enjoy the tastes of France in this sophisticated atmosphere. A sampling of his menu starts with these possible choices from the appetizer list: Oysters Rockefeller – 6 baked oysters with spinach, pernod, bacon, cream and parmesan cheese. You might also like the Salmon Rillettes – poached and smoked salmon spread with a crispy baguette or the Ahi Tuna Tower with sliced cucumber, crushed avocado, pineapples, scallions with a sesame seed & ginger dressing. On the entrée menu there’s Boeuf Bourguignon – braised short ribs, pork belly, mushrooms, onions, carrots and butter noodles. Also, Trout Almondine with almond beurre noisette, jardinière and pomme nature.
Among your choices for dessert there’s Strawberry Napoléon-homemade puff pastry with crème diplomate and strawberries. Another choice would be Fondant Au Chocolat – molten dark chocolate cake with Armagnac and a white chocolate sauce. And, as they say at Toulouse: “Dine with us and be transported to Paris, if only for a moment.”
