This month Praful Thakkar is hosting an Active Rain Contest on “Your Network is Your Net Worth.” It’s a good challenge because our task is to explain who is your network and how do you “work” your network. I appreciate the chance to share and am reading many entries that are so inspiring!
I’ve been in the real estate business for 26 years. I’m dedicated to providing exemplary service and like to create “an experience” for my clients. My goal is for them to remember how smooth the transaction went and there won’t be any doubt to recommend me enthusiastically to their friends and family. I am their trusted resource and will help them in any way I can. If I don’t know an answer I will take time to find it for them.
So who is in my network?
Past clients – buyers and sellers
My prospects – immediate or incubating
The community I serve
Internet presence
My Transaction partners – Title companies, lenders, inspectors, painters, carpet people, yard maintenance companies, roofers, window washers, my favorite stager, etc.
My office peers and associates from other companies
Active Rain connections
Friends and family (my family is all in the real estate business)
Local businesses – Our travel agent, restaurant owners, cleaners, shoe repair, dentists, optometrist, etc.
How do I “work” my network?
The lesson I’ve learned from networking is it’s best to do it the way I’m comfortable. I’m not pushy but sincere in wanting to help. Through my advertising and involvement in community events people know me and can count on my support. My reputation for being honest, knowledgeable and caring precedes me. My Internet presence is where many people meet me first and I follow up promptly with all contacts! The public sees me everywhere: at events, sponsoring activities, my signs, my websites, my posts on my blog….it’s all interwoven into my network package.
I consider my peers and transaction partners, clients. I’m working with them long after a seller has moved to another part of town or another state. By treating other agents with respect and fairness it’s amazing how many want to show my listings and work with me on completing another smooth transaction.
By my Internet presence, giving back to my community, keeping in touch and offering something of value it’s remarkable the huge impact these activities have on my business. People want to do business with people they like, trust and respect.
I always remember a mentor told me; quality people want to work with quality people and she was right. I surround myself with quality people and I find I’m a magnet attracting like-minding clients.
It’s a pleasant surprise when I receive referrals from peers and transaction partners in addition to past clients and their referrals. The power of word of mouth is astonishing………. My Network is invaluable!
