It’s going to be hot..hot..hot in Austin this week-end! How about something casual for dining..no fuss..no muss? School is out but think you’re finished with your education? Think again…Take a short 15-20 minute ride to Georgetown, and when you leave this destination you will have graduated with honors! You might even have a new Alma Mater!
BURGER UNIVERSITY http://burgeruniversity.net/
Alan Grimsley had a vision for super fresh hand-made food. He paired that with Rob May’s desire to have a family-oriented and fun environment. The Lockett Building where Burger University is located provides the character and charm. Combine all that and the 3 pillars of service of Burger University were created: quality, excellence and service.
Burger University is committed to preparing each meal with the freshest ingredients and serving each customer a nourishing and comforting meal in a fun and relaxed environment. The walls are painted a rich navy blue that is complimented by warm, brown tones from the antique pine floors and hand-crafted banisters. The halls are decorated with black & white photos of Texas colleges and universities, and the menus are printed on giant blackboards.
The blackboard menus are very unique. The Undergraduate Curriculum boards start with The Majors – you could try the Fraternity – a classic burger with thick cut bacon or the Teacher’s Pet – a hand-battered chicken fried chicken burger – and let’s not forget the Sorority – a fresh, grilled chicken breast on a house bun. For your Minors you can choose from fresh cut fries, hand battered onion rings or how about the fried pickle spears? You need to choose a course – and that could be american cheese, swiss cheese or bleu cheese among others. If you’re looking for an Elective – there are several, but, some of the class favorites are Grilled Onions, Grilled Pineapple and Thick-cut Bacon. Final item for the undergraduate to choose would be your Housing – a house bun, jalapeno cheese bun or sourdough toast rank among the campus favorites. If you’re looking to further your education even more – move on to the Graduate Curriculum – The Thesis is a classic burger topped with sautéed spinach with fresh feta crumbles…or you might be heading for your Doctorate – a patty melt on sourdough toast with muenster cheese, topped with grilled roast beef and signature horseradish sauce that is served with a beef au jus dipping sauce. Wash it all down with a glass of wine, or choose something from the over 50 choices of beer that are always on the menu. Finish with some hand dipped Blue Bell ice cream or a shake. When you are done, you will have graduated with the highest honors and can call Burger University your Alma Mater!
