Camp Mabry TX Military Force Museum~2 Day Memorial Day event 2017

Austinites please take time over this Memorial Day weekend to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day by attending the stirring Close Assault 1944. Its showing at 11am and 2 pm at the Texas Military Force Museum at Camp Mabry, 2200 West 35th Street in Austin Texas 78703 on Saturday and Sunday, May 27 and 28, 2017, rain or shine. Photo ID’s will be required.

Looking back at World War 11 this program honors the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans by focusing on the history of the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard during World War 11.

The price is right…it’s free and now in its 8th year of exhibition! It features members of the Texas Military Forces Living History Detachment exhibiting the uniform and equipment worn by the American GI in the European Theater of the Second World War, as well as those of the German opponent. Guests will also be able to witness firing demonstrations of the most famous U.S. and German small arms of Word War 11 as well as check out tents, radio equipment, GI baseball gloves, mess kits as well as operational vehicles such as an M4 Sherman Tank, M3 Halftrack and an assortment of Jeeps.
