No this isn’t a “Jo Bob” Texas place….you won’t find enchiladas, tacos or chips and salsa here. This in authentic Irish Pub on 6th street that was built in Ireland and assembled here in Austin. Ship ahoy mate….you’re going to love the flavor of this pub and all the awesome food they offer!

BD Riley’s is located on the ground floor of the Hannig Bldg, in the heart of Austin’s historic entertainment district on 6th Street. There is a lot of history going on at BD Riley’s…The building dates back to 1875 and is named after Joseph Hannig, a cabinet maker and an undertaker. Joseph was the husband of Susannah Dickinson who was the last Alamo survivor. The western wall is original 1875 stonework, everything else in there throughout the Pub came from Ireland and was assembled here. The namesake for the pub is Bessie Dee Riley who was born to Irish immigrants in 1896. The Riley clan came to America in 1871 to escape the horrors of the Irish potato famine. To honor the spirit of the family and other proud Irish, the Pub was named in honor of Bessie and her portrait hangs on the east wall of the Pub. BD Riley’s is one of a kind – not part of a chain or any type of cookie cutter operation. It’s Austin’s local pub on 6th Street and is devoted to maintaining a fine ‘public house’ with good food, fine pints of beer and great live music.
Here is a sampling of what you’ll find on BD Riley’s menu: on the Entrée menu there’s Fish & Chips – deepwater cod filets hand-dipped in their Firemans #4 Blonde Ale batter served with thick-cut chips, homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce (this one is the Austin Chronicle Critics’ Choice winner for Best Pub Food in Austin”). There’s Corned Beef & Cabbage – beer braised corned beef served with crisp sautéed cabbage done al dente and served with mashed potatoes & horseradish mustard. You’ll also find Shepherd’s Pie – ground beef in rich brown gravy with onions, carrots & peas with lightly browned mashed potatoes and Bangers & Mash – three bangers (mild sausages), homemade mashed potatoes, served with steamed vegetables. If you’re looking for more standard fare – the Classic Burger is another great choice – a ¼ pound all beef patty with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickle with a side of thick cut chips (fries). There’s also a Texas favorite of Chicken Fried Chicken – huge tender chicken breast dredged in spiced batter lightly fried with gravy, mashers & steamed veggies. Finish it off with something from the Dessert menu – Irish Coffee ice cream (creamy from Amy’s ice cream), Ultimate Chocolate Cake (triple layered with a cookie crust and chocolate chip icing) or the Rustic Apple Tart (sweet & tangy apples in a flaky crust with caramel & Crème Anglaise).
