This month Kathleen Daniels is hosting a challenge about our pet peeves in our business. We all know what we love about our jobs but the challenge is to write about what annoys, irritates, angers, irks, exasperates, tries patience, gets on nerves ……you get the picture the definition of peeve!!
This includes agents, brokers, lenders, stagers, marketing, SEO, virtual assistants, website development … Everyone has a peeve which means everyone gets to play.
As a Realtor® we all face fear and rejection and plenty of impatience. Some handle it better than others. You might be acting as a buyer’s agent and don’t win the bid for your buyers in a multiple offer scenario; or you might be working as a listing agent who encouraged your sellers to accept an offer and then the buyers backed out during the option period…aghhh! Sometimes things don’t go your way and don’t happen the way you want. Learn to “Let it go!”
There are always those appointments you worked doubly hard in preparing an excellent listing presentation and knew you’d established an excellent rapport with the sellers. Then you find out they listed with a friend of a friend who just got their license and doesn’t know the community! Good Grief…how does that happen?? It happens! You don’t control how consumers make choices. Learn to “Let it go!!”
Whether in business or in personal life sometimes the cards you are dealt are not what you bargained…..life is not always fair! Learning to accept things you can’t change and move on is the only recourse unless you want to dwell in drama and pain. I’ve witnessed some agents who feel the whole world is against them and want to live in misery and never move on to Plan B! This is one of my pet peeves in my business..dealing with those who won’t “Let it Go” and enjoy wallowing in self pity!!
