The Scarlet Rabbit ~ "Foodie" Friday ~ 4/28/17

Feel Adventuresome this week-end? How would you like to enjoy a meal in the “magical atmosphere of a restaurant that immediately makes you feel like you are immersed in a classical tale?” Take a short ride to our sister city of Round Rock and you’ll be able to do just that!

THE SCARLET RABBIT                http://www.thescarletrabbit.com/

The Scarlet Rabbit is a quirky Texas bistro that serves creative, regionally inspired food located in downtown Round Rock, TX.  Co-executive chefs Rob Snow and Rich Taylor, offer “an immersive trip down a culinary rabbit hole”.   It’s a cozy restaurant where all things are cool nestled in a 1940’s bungalow just west of Round Rock’s historic district.  The interior features an Alice in Wonderland theme highlighted by delicate, yet bold accents, romantic lighting and stimulating décor.  As soon as you walk into the Scarlet Rabbit you will see a mysterious hall of doors adjoining a striking red cocktail bar decorated with ornamental hares and clocks that are running backwards that say “Drink Me” and you immediately feel like you are absorbed into the fairy tale.  There are a variety of dining spaces including an extensive outdoor patio shaded by a 200 year old live oak tree draped in lights.

Here is a sampling of what you will find on the Scarlett Rabbit’s menu: On the Begin Your Journey menu you’ll find Bacon Shrimp Bites – wild caught Gulf shrimp, tiger glaze, pork belly and beet chips and Duck Lollipops – duck drums in a BBQ sauce and scallion dip.  On the Rabbit Food menu there’s Steelhead Salad with smoked steelhead trout, heirloom tomatoes, roasted beets, basil and fennel vinaigrette and some Ancho Carrot Soup served with pepitas.  The main menu referred to as the Serious Plates menu you will find Smoked Rabbit and Andouille Gumbo with okra and rice, the Hatter’s Burger – ground brisket served on a Challah bun with house sauce, sharp cheddar and fries and some Texas Bouillabaisse made with gulf shrimp, oysters, mussels and black drum in a spicy broth served with grilled bread.

No matter what you order, like the inquisitive Cheshire cat, you can expect to grin from ear to ear from the moment you enter the fairy tale atmosphere.
