Taverna is an appealing neighborhood restaurant that offers a truly Italian experience without having to leave Texas! Their Italian chefs go all out to create the perfect menu using seasonal ingredients for their entrees. They present a variety of northern Italian delights from simple ingredients. Their most requested dish is their risotto. They use only Carnaroli rice which is called the king of the rice because it makes such a perfect and creamy risotto. In Italy, a tavern is a special place where customers become more than that – they become friends and family.
Here is a sampling of their menu – from the appetizer menu try the Bruschetta – toasted ciabatta with fresh tomatoes, garlic and extra virgin olive oil or Antipasto Emiliano (for the table) with prosciutto, mortadella, salame, porchetta, olives, giardiniera, parmesan chunks and foccacia. On the ‘Risotteria’ menu there is Risotto Al Parmigiano Con Salsa Tartufata made with parmesan cheese and black truffle sauce. You could also try their homemade Fiocchi Al Gorgonzola – gorgonzola filled pasta with pears, walnuts, arugula and cream sauce. On the ‘Secondi’ menu – there’s Tagliata Di Manzo which is a 7oz. seared beef tenderloin with salsa verde, asparagus and roasted potatoes; and Salmon Piccata – salmon pan seared in a lemon caper sauce served with sautéed spinach and asparagus. Dessert is a must and you can try the Dark Chocolate Mousse made with peanut butter and raspberries or the Espresso Crème Brulee served with homemade biscotti. No matter what you order, you’ll find that Taverna is the perfect place for you!
