I read a post from Wanda Kubat-Nerdin “Their Not your friends” awhile back and it’s been gnawing at me. I’ve heard other agents commenting to beware of other agents for various reasons and one is they will steal your clients! Even our beloved Lenn Harley touted other Realtors are not your friends!
I was surprised to read the comments from Wanda’s post because so many agents experienced disappointing scenarios. I couldn’t get over the experiences from so many that tainted the way they viewed colleagues (I prefer that term rather than competitors).
I would never be able to work in an office where I couldn’t trust or yes be friends with my colleagues. Our office culture is so different from the comments I’ve been reading….we help each other and know we can always go to anyone with questions. If we don’t know the answer we research it because we never know when we might have that question come up. We share marketing ideas, systems and are never afraid to help another agent become more knowledgeable and successful! We thrive because we work from a mindset of “abundance” and not “scarcity.” We do believe there is plenty of business for everyone! This positive energy results in sharing of prestige, recognition, profits and decision making.

We play outside of the office because we like each other and play as hard as we work! We welcome new agents and want to see them succeed and offer to mentor them! We treat each other just like we treat our clients with respect, trust and care.
We are a top producing office in Austin, we care about each other and you won’t find drama at the water cooler! You might find someone suggesting a spur of the moment happy hour or offering to show everyone a neat app they discovered. Our twice a month office meetings are not to be missed!!! They are full of up to-date local real estate information and Austin news, mortgage information and fun!!
Operating from a mindset of abundance opens the door to so many possibilities, options, alternatives and creativity. I view my colleagues as long term clients, whether they’re in my office or a different brokerage. I will be working with many of these agents long after my seller closes and moves to another state. Hanging out with my colleagues I learn there are different ways to looks at things and keep things in perspective. I often receive referrals from agents but the most important thing I receive is respect, trust and the desire to work with me whether I’m the listing agent or the buyer’s agent. Whether working with buyers, sellers or my colleagues, I’ve learned “You Get by Giving!”
