Austin makes #4 on top 10 cities with fastest growing suburbs

Yuqing Pan recently wrote an article for Realtor.com touting the Top 10 cities in the country with the fastest growing suburbs. It’s interesting to read that during 2010-2017 suburbs grew by 7.9% compared to the 6.9% in urban areas. It only stands to reason that prices are higher in urban locations with the availability of land so scarce.

Their research team looked at 50 largest metro areas to pinpoint suburbs in cities by judging the number of households, home listings, list prices and demand for housing in zip codes.

Amazingly the most sought after suburban communities were often found outside the suburbs in the exurbs (isn’t that a great word)! Places where more affordable options exist for home buyers.

We were astonished to hear Daffan (Zip code 78724) was named the hottest growing suburb outside of Austin. It shouldn’t be surprising because many are finding they are being priced out of the city as home prices continue to rise sharply. Many new home developments of single family homes are under construction at affordable prices and new residents are moving in!

With a nearly 1,300-acre Walter E. long lake running through Daffan people love the rural setting and love to make time to fish for hybrid striped bass and catfish. Having neighbors like the family- friendly Austin Rodeo, Fair and Stock show as well as the Travis County Exposition Center is a real plus, especially when they get to hear Kenny Rogers perform!

There you have it…Austin is in the top 10 cities ( #4 ) with the hottest growing suburb Daffan!
