I know you are thinking this can’t be true but it really is! Don’t discount this venue until you’ve been to Son’s Island @ Lake Placid TX...only an hour and 20 minutes outside of Austin and you’ll be relaxing on a 3 and half acre island paradise!
Texas has so many wonderful attractions and if you haven’t experienced this one you need to make it a priority. Whether you are looking for a vacation or a quick day-cation getaway you and your family and friends will love spending a day or longer on the water at Son’s Island.
The drive in to this private hideaway is gorgeous! You’ll cross a 100 foot long wooden bridge and then drive through mature cypress and pecan trees that outline the perimeter of their over 4,000 feet of lakefront land. Sound enticing?
There are 26 open-air Hawaiian style huts on the Lakeside to rent individually or in groups by the day. What I love is each cabana includes entry for 8 guests (for an extra fee can accommodate 12). They include a picnic table, hammock, lounge chairs, BBQ pit, comfortable seating, bar top and stools, water and electricity and a private swimming/fishing dock! If you own a boat or jet skis there is plenty of room at the dock (a boat ramp is only ½ mile away).
If you want to stay overnight there are 2 vintage RV rentals on the islands.
They rent kayaks, paddleboards, hydro bikes and floats! Paddle boats are free and so is the frog slide, rope swing, volleyball court, horseshoes and so much more!
The cool thing is if you have a large gathering or celebrations you can rent the whole island!! Perfect place for a family reunion, office party or retreat!
