Sophia’s Supper Club ~ "Foodie" Friday ~ 12/30/16

2016 is coming to an end tomorrow night.  Looking for a great place to ring out the old or ring in the new? There is a sexy and modern, classic Italian-American Supper Club in the basement of the historic 1918 Stratford Arms Building on 6th Street in downtown Austin that would be perfect.

Sophia’s has a high energy stylish and sophisticated atmosphere that provides the perfect ambiance for a true dining experience.  There is an intimate cocktail lounge where you can relax before or after you dine on familiar Italian dishes.  Chef Mark Sparacino has more than 20 years of experience in the food and beverage industry and knows how to please his customers.  One of the restaurants he has worked, located in Chicago, is Avanzare, where he delved into rich sauces, plating and how to make elegant presentations; and has worked at the 4 star Grand Palazzo Resort Hotel in the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Chef Mark is sure to please to say the least!  On Sophia’s menu you will find homemade pastas, whole roasted fish and shareable antipasti.  To accompany your meal, you will find Italian cocktails, house-made liqueurs and a varied selection of wines from France, Napa Valley and Italy.  On the Appetizer menu, you’ll find Tuna Tartare with Ahi tuna, avocado, calabrese peppers, scallions, capers, black sesame seeds, orange and aged balsamic served with crostini.  You might also like to try the Baked Clams made with middle neck clams, breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley and lemon-shallot-herb butter.  From the Pasta menu – there is Fusilli Calabrese with sautéed shrimp, broccollini, calabrese pepper, garlic-chili oil and fresh mint.  The Fish and Meat menu has a delicious 18oz. Ribeye dry aged, with extra virgin olive oil, truffle salt, baby arugula, lemon and served with heirloom cherry tomato.  Top that all off with a wonderful dessert item like the NY Style Cheesecake served with house-made ginger snaps, lemon and a berry sorbet.  Or, the Root Down Cake is also a delicious option made with brown butter, carrots, parsnips, roasted pineapple and white chocolate creameux.

Buon Appetito and Buon Anno to you and yours!
