I’ve had the pleasure of meeting April Crawford the new principal of Canyon Creek Elementary in the RRISD. I’m serving on the Site Based Advisory Board and was impressed with the way she conducted our meeting.
April Crawford served as the assistant principal at Great Oaks Elementary School and previously taught first grade at Cactus Ranch Elementary School and worked as the assistant principal for six years. She’s worked in the RRISD for total of 11 years.
April is a graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in elementary education as well as an educational certification. It’s exciting to see how the staff, parents and children accept and rally around her leadership. Her extensive background serving RRISD benefits the students and staff at Canyon Creek.
Capturing Kids Hearts is a student support program which Canyon Creek has implemented into its school environement and April endorses and has ample training in. The program invites students and staff to develop a self-managing and collaborative community where all students feel included. April is definitely striving to continue the academic excellence Canyon Creek is known for and is building strong relationships with the students, staff and community members.
Canyon Creek, located at 10210 Ember Glen Drive in Austin, is the westernmost campus in Round Rock ISD and serves 417 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
