Last year Austin was named #2 in the nation by Urban Land Institute (UNI) in 2016 Edition of Emerging Trends in Real Estate. Look on page 35 in the 2017 Edition ….Austin moved from #2 position from last year to the #1 spot in 2017! Everyone is talking about Austin!
This report ranks cities by their opportunities for investors and I for one am proud to see the Capitol of Texas in the top 10 with the #1 spot in the country! The state of Texas has a lot to do with the analysis that Central Texas tops many domestic investors’ wish lists. ULI gives Austin high marks as a city where local, regional and national real estate partaker’s cooperate in relative accord. ULI perceived due to this cooperation the result is adequate levels of debt and equity capital available for investment opportunities.
Austin continues to thrive from a diverse economy through various job creations ranging from the service sector to higher end education, innovative industries and medical field positions. All generations find Austin and attractive place to live. With the rolling hill country vistas, relatively lower cost of living and friendly and inviting atmosphere what’s not to like about Austin? The only concern some express is the population is growing faster than its infrastructure and that is a valid concern.
With the growing population base made up of an educated labor force and the irrefutable “Hip” factor that makes Austin attractive to the millennial dominated workforce, Austin is in need of new living/close proximity to work and entertainment area. The Domain is an excellent example of a developer having the foresight to meet this challenge and is creating a hub all its own! Some are concerned that a potential shortcoming is the public and private investment in the local market. Personally I see the entrepreneurial spirit alive and well with many taking the risks of public and private investment.
The local real estate market is definitely experiencing a strong market with ratings hovering “good to excellent.” It’s never been a better time to invest in real estate in Austin. If it’s not now when would it be??
