There is a bit of history in this restaurant. Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew is named after the owner Shane Stiles as well as the historic 1800 I. & G.N. railroad stop Stiles Switch, TX. Shane was raised in Central Texas on the history of Texas BBQ legends. That became his inspiration for the BBQ. The restaurant is in an historic 1950s art deco shopping center; and is designed to have a nostalgic atmosphere taking you back to the Old Austin neighborhood style eatery with exceptional Texas BBQ, great atmosphere and cold Texas craft brews.
This center, the Violet Crown Shopping Center, is one of the oldest in Central Austin and was the film production hub for the 1990s film “Dazed and Confused” starring our own Matthew McConaughey ~ It’s the famed “Emporium” pool hall in the movie! Stiles Switch features Texas craft beers on tap with a variety of Austin craft brew favorites as well as popular domestic brews.
Stop in for a delicious chopped or sliced beef sandwich, sausage or turkey sandwich or try the Buford T’s Diablo sandwich! You can also buy ribs, brisket, pork and sausage by the pound and enjoy it at home! Don’t forget to try some delicious traditional BBQ desserts: homemade peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, banana pudding or a chocolate/banana pudding combo! Wash it all down with a soda or an ice cold Texas brew!
