Austin TX is Hot..Hot..Hot ! Weather, Real Estate & Summer Activities!

Austin’s principle water source is Lake Travis and it is 99% full! After nearly a 10 year drought we are not taking our current bountiful supply of water for granted! El Niño came late to Central Texas and filled every one of our five reservoirs to capacity. During our drought as Lake Travis continued to fall businesses around the lake closed due to the low water levels. Severe restrictions were imposed: Mandatory one day a week sprinkler usage and hand or bucket water for our yards, car washes mandatory recycling of water, no power washing , in some cities a band on building new pools was enacted (and we love our pools). Even now we are on mandatory one day a week sprinkler usage because we know what can happen when a drought occurs and we are protecting our valuable water supply.

The early spring weather and heavy rains Austin enjoyed gave way to soaring summer temperatures and now we are melting in our Hot..Hot temperatures! If you are a homeowner with a pool you know why you caved into the notion being wet helped in the dog days of summer! July, August, September and October will not disappoint….lay by the pool, relax and take a dip….rinse and repeat in the lazy days of summer…..it’s the best way to handle the heat!

What housing options are popular in Austin? Homes with pools of course! Inventory is low and many people moving here are excited for the opportunity of owning a home in a warm climate where a pool can be used year round! Entertaining family, friends and neighbors outside with an informal BBQ and gatherings are the norm! Real Estate is Hot… Hot… Due to the influx of new residents procuring jobs in our explosive job growth the demand is up and the inventory is low! It all equals to escalating home prices!

There are community pools, city pools and homes with pools. There are streams for wading and walking trails for many residents and their pets. We are surrounded by lakes so boating, water skiing, kayaking, zip lining all are popular summer time activities! Summer outdoor concerts at parks, Amphi-theaters are a hit as well as outdoor summer movie watching!

There are several fun places surrounding Austin that make a great mini vacation for the whole family. If you really want to make a splash a trip to the Schlitterbaun Water Park in New Braunfels (about an hour away) is always on the hit parade of summer fun activities. Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio is a fun day trip with family and friends! Don’t forget Aquatica Sea World Water Park in San Antonio too!

Austin Texas is the place to be!
