Spotlight on: Carol Montgomery “Teacher of the Year” for Canyon Creek Elementary.
Congratulations to Carol Montgomery who was chosen as Canyon Creek’s 2017 Teacher of the Year! Carol’s taught the 5th grade at Canyon Creek Elementary for the past 18 years. She is the daughter of a teacher and followed in her mom’s footsteps and has been teaching school for a total of 37 years.
Montgomery’s mantra is: “I believe that teaching character traits along with the curriculum enhances a student’s ability to master academic skills. Respect and tolerance for others are the most important expectations I have always had in my classroom.”
Jenny Kasson, Canyon Creek’s principal, says: “She has a special gift for working with students who are having difficulty academically. She builds great connections and relationships with her students. She is a great resource on our campus and has a wealth of strategies which she willingly shares with her teammates.”
Students at Canyon Creek Elementary are blessed to have a teacher whose goal is to help students learn and experience success in the class room. She believes she must always be learning in order to bring the best experience possible to her students. Kudos to you Carol Montgomery!!
