Why not check out an Austin original this week-end! This one has been in town since 1988, and is as unique as Austin itself. Geno and I stopped in the other night and loved their cheese/jalapeno/beef queso and then I tried the chicken quesadilles and Gene had tacos…..can you say Yummmm!!

The delicious Tex-Mex menu that is mixed with a casual atmosphere makes The Texican a hit! After the Texican opened its third location, they took their love for Tex-Mex food and mixed it with Austin’s love for sports. What they created is the only place in Austin that enjoys an award winning menu along with favorite college and pro teams in action! Their philosophy hasn’t changed since they opened – use only the finest and freshest of ingredients to ensure the highest quality meal. The result is a menu of fresh homemade tortillas, award-winning Cabrito and mouth watering fajitas.
A sampling of what you’ll find on the menu: Stuffed Jalapenos from the appetizer list: Sweet and Hot Red Jalapenos filled with cream cheese in a crispy potato batter served with jalapeno jelly and queso a la parilla…you also might like to try the house specialty: Queso A La Parilla – a made to order combination of white cheese and sautéed vegetables served in a hot skillet with homemade tortillas.
For dinner try the Steak Tampiquena – the owners favorite – a juicy rib-eye steak in a citrus marinade served with a cheese El Paso enchilada with a side of ranchero sauce, beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. Finish it all of with decadent Chocolate mousse cake or a silky vanilla flan custard.
