“Keeping Austin Weird Culture” Attracts the Right Workforce

Austin Texas is leading the country in the #1 position (according to Forbes) for job growth (4%) and many attribute it to the “Keep Austin Weird” culture. Why, because the demographics of Austin is young, educated and a motivated workforce which attracts the right employers offering higher end salaries.

As an example Oracle announced building a cutting- edge, cloud next generation technology campus in Austin. There is already a high performing employee base available and they will be tapping recent university graduates and technical professionals at early stages in their career. The company confirmed it will purchase housing for employees to life affordably nearby. The focus is definitely on the needs of the millennials.

Austin offers the right mix of “work, live and play environment” which is attractive to companies looking to making a commitment to its employees as they grow and aggressively hire around the world. Austin is home to development centers and headquarters for many technology corporations hence dubbing the nickname of “Silicon Hills!” The free thinking and innovative environment is a magnet for more like minded employees.

Oh did I mention Visa is expanding in Austin..hiring employees to develop a mobile payment system and rebrand itself as a destination for talented tech workers. They are looking for students graduating from college. The UT campus offers a variable crop ripe for picking new hires easily.

Forbes in January 2016 declared Austin the next Boomtown. They state surges in population, job growth and education levels contribute to our “boomtown” status. The latest stats show we now are experiencing 200 a day moving to Austin!!

The Dell Medical School at UT Austin, Teaching Hospital and Bio Tech/Venture Capital investment is currently under construction and is creating incredible synergy in luring millennials to Austin. Their focus is on improving health and making Austin a model healthy city.

Toss in the music festivals (like SXSW) and the arts and Austin’s economy does nothing but thrive! A very optimistic outlook continues to permeate the air and the “Keep Austin Weird” philosophy continues to grow stronger!
