A Magical night~Canyon Creek Neighborhood~2015 Tree Lighting
Canyon Creek Neighborhood in NW Austin held their annual “Tree Lighting” event ~ a magical night!! This 4th annual event was held at the Canyon Creek Park (by the pool) and an estimated 400 residents came out to share in the lighting of our Christmas Tree! Mr. and Mrs. Santa arrived by horse drawn carriage. Residents lined up to ride down “Candy Cane Lane” (Boulder Lane was transformed into this carriage route). Photo opportunities were offered for all families with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
We provided a bouncy house for the kids to get rid of some pen-up energy from running, playing football, trying their hands at some crafts and checking out the farm animals at the petting zoo!
It’s a great time for residents to get in the Christmas spirit and enjoy mingling and fostering relationships with their neighbors. Fantastic Christmas music was sung thanks to the Austin Baptist Church directed by John Parker their Associate Pastor of Music and Worship. It was a pleasure to meet Senior Pastor Gary Dyers who lives in Canyon Creek and expressed a desire to continue the tradition of performing!
Jennifer Halla’s booth offered us Christmas shopping opportunities from her array of exciting creations. Her “Peaceful Pieces” business is always well received! (I love finding something special for my grandchildren).
Hot chocolate and popcorn was a big hit and sponsored by RBFCU. The finale came with a bonfire perfect for roasting marshmallows for s’mores!
The “Tree Lighting” is just one of many reasons I love living in Canyon Creek! Jennifer and Don Zimmerman are to be commended for all their hard work in pulling this event together!
