OMG..we dined last Saturday night with friends at this highly anticipated rustic Italian restaurant that recently opened in downtown Austin at 6th and Colorado. The reviews have been awesome and I now know why!! Make a reservation for this eclectic new restaurant and you won’t be disappointed! If you like classic Italian dining in a great location you’ll love this new dining venue.

The interior of Italic features their aluminum and glass enclosed open kitchen with a top of the line stone hearth pizza oven. You’ll find leather wrapped banquettes that will remind you of classic Italian décor like the 2 massive collages by graphic designer John Gall. There are floor to ceiling aluminum cased windows amid spots of bright yellow and forest green that add brightness to the butcher block table tops, limestone and mahogany accents.
The antipasti selections are cured meats, Italian cheeses, olives and house marinated produce and focaccia. Entrees like the Florence style T-bone steak and a roasted half chicken along with rustic pizzas are made in that wonderful stone hearth pizza oven. A sample of their delicious pasta would be the Penne Rigate Alla Bolognese made with beef, pork, white wine, cream and parmigiano. If you’re in the mood for seafood try the Whole Roasted Black Sea Bass with mushrooms, green onions, lemon and oregano. And, of course, we can’t forget dessert…There’s a Chocolate Budino made with candied pistachios, meyer lemon zest, olive oil and pistachio white chocolate biscotti. Or perhaps you’d like the Crostata made with caramelized pears, toasted almonds and whipped cream.
Italic is open all day during the week. Italic wants to be “the kind of place where you can get a really a great chicken sandwich or salad at 11 and come back for a nice dinner at night.”
