LinkedIn Corp, the online professional network fosters a new concept for influencing business operations especially in the high tech field. Remember how “Taking your kids to work” was all the rage? Well now the latest trend is “Bring in your Parents Day!”
In 18 countries LinkedIn held their third annual observance of “Bring in your Parents day” on November 5, 2015. This is not a show and tell experience. Companies are staging classes, presentations and fun events involving parents. It’s a novel approach to bridge the gap between young professionals and educating their parents. It’s also a time for kids to say thank you for the countless ways they’ve supported you.
Companies and their work places are constantly changing and many parents are unsure of what their kids work environment is all about, let alone know exactly what they do. One third of parents have no idea what their kids do for a living! It might be one of the reasons parents stopped giving career advice to their children. They are simply out of touch with the work place opportunities offered in our every changing world! If you missed the 2015 event make sure you look for it next year!
