Fontan della Barcaccia Fountain or better known as the “Fountain of the ugly boat” is not your average fresh water fountain. When in Rome recently I enjoyed stopping at the bottom of the Spanish Steps in the Piazza di Spagna to people watch!
The fountain was commissioned by Pope Urban VIII and was completed in 1627 by Pietro Bernini and his son Lorenzo Bernini. You will always find a good size crowd of locals or visitors for a “photo op” and or a drink from the fresh water fountain
