Steven Szostak with Boy Scout Troop 159 is responsible for an Eagle Scout Project benefiting the students in the Canyon Creek Subdivision where he resides. His project consisted of making repairs and enhancements to the playground and creating a new play venue at the Canyon Creek Elementary in the prestigious master planned community in NW Austin. We appreciate Steven choosing a project to benefit our neighborhood. We don’t hear enough good our kids are doing!
Steven took the time to acquire donations for his ambitious project (we were happy to donate)
which included:
- Creating a retaining wall/curb to prevent erosion on the running track
- Building bench seats from limestone, birdhouses and a birdbath under an old oak tree
- Constructing a modular “Ga-ga Pit”
For those of you not familiar with a Ga-ga pit it is a large octagon or hexagon structure to play a variance of dodge ball. It is played with one ball which combines dodging, striking, running and jumping with the end result of one person left standing! This is great exercise for kids and very popular (don’t you remember playing dodge ball for hours!).
Thank you Steven, the kids at Canyon Creek Elementary love the new addition to the Canyon Creek campus.
